What Markdown can't express
Markdown has no colours, fonts, column layouts, forms or classes, so those are dropped. Tables with merged cells (colspan/rowspan) can't be represented as pipe tables and are kept as HTML. If you need the reverse, use Markdown to HTML.
HTML to Markdown for AI and LLM prompts
Markdown uses far fewer tokens than HTML for the same content and models read it well, which is why many AI tools ask for it. Convert a page here, then paste the Markdown into your prompt or knowledge base.
Conversion uses the open-source Turndown library with its GitHub-flavoured Markdown plugin.
Private by design: this tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you paste or open is uploaded to a server.

GitHub-flavoured Markdown (GFM), which works on GitHub, GitLab, most static-site generators, Obsidian and Notion.
